Best Luxury Makeup – High-End Makeup Worth the Splurge
But, I have never done a post about luxury/high-end makeup that are totally worth splurging on – makeup products that are definitely worth their price tag and that I’ll always repurchase over and over again.
I know makeup can be super expensive, which is why I love finding drugstore dupes for high-end makeup, but some things just can’t be replicated!
And in addition to luxury makeup usually containing higher-grade and less harmful ingredients (in some), they usually have the most beautiful and extravagant packaging.
Packaging has nothing to do with how a product performs, but it can definitely affect the user experience.
For example, I really appreciate a nice pump and a sleek glass bottle for foundation, and I hate using squeeze tube foundations or foundations that I have to pour out.
The extra cash you pay for high-end makeup goes toward niceties like that – things that aren’t really necessary, but are appreciated.
Also, I totally admit I’m extra AF, so really pretty packaging makes me all giddy inside! I really appreciate the thought and effort that goes into beautiful packaging that makes sense for the product and it honestly just makes me so happy to look at!
In today’s post, I’ll be sharing the top 10 makeup products that I think are totally worth the splurge. None of the products on the list are actually outrageously priced – like La Mer or Sisley.
That’s like – LUXURY luxury.
The products in today’s post will be in the “normal” price range of brands you’d find at Sephora – like NARS, Bobbi Brown, etc.
Okay, I rambled so much in today’s intro. Let’s get started!

Luxury Makeup Products Worth the Money
Bobbi Brown – Vitamin Enriched Face Base
I’ve been using this primer for almost 3 years and I don’t think I’ll ever stop! It’s my all-time holy grail primer, hands-down.
I have fairly dry skin, so this primer works very well for my skin because it’s very moisturizing. It just makes my skin feel so good!
Foundation also sits beautifully on top of it and despite how moisturizing it is, I’ve never experienced becoming oilier throughout the day when using this primer compared to without it.
Even when I’m not wearing makeup, I love applying this all over my face as a moisturizer or a morning pick-me-up!
I wrote a full review on it when I first tried it years ago: Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base Review
Tatcha – The Silk Canvas Protective Primer
In addition to the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, I use this primer every single day.
Because the Bobbi Brown primer is only moisturizing and not smoothing/pore-filling in any way, I like to put a smoothing primer on top of it.
I usually don’t really like smoothing primers because most of the ones I’ve tried have made my foundation slip around too much.
BUT, the Silk Canvas absolutely changed my mind about smoothing primers and it changed my life!
I was in love with it from day 1 and you can literally see it smoothing the appearance of your skin as your applying it. Totally lives up to the name of “Silk Canvas.”
Fenty Beauty – Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil
You’ll feel like a glowy sparkly goddess with this highlighter on – not exaggerating at all.
This highlighter is much more of a glitter than a normal highlighter because there isn’t any pigment in it. It’s just pure, gorgeous glitter.
I love to use it on top of another highlighter when I want an extra pop of sparkle.
Since there is no pigment in it, if it’s worn alone, it will work with every single skin tone. It’ll just give you a beautiful glossy, sparkly glow.
Usually highlighters with glitter in them can appear chunky or emphasize texture on the skin, but not this one!
The glitter is so finely milled and the highlighter itself has a putty-like texture, so you get a “glossy glow” look.
The only bummer is that it gets dirty if you don’t use s super clean brush/finger every time! (I like to apply it with a finger since it has a putty-like texture.)
Tarte – Shape Tape Concealer
The Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is seriously my most favorite full-coverage concealer of all time. And I’ve tried a lot.
I’ve found a lot of drugstore concealers that come really close and I definitely have found a dupe, but for some reason, I still find myself always going back to Shape Tape.
It’s just so full-coverage without being unbearably thick, so I never experience my under-eye area looking cakey. And it’s not so thick that it’s hard to blend out.
I’ve tried other concealers that are just as full-coverage, but they’re either too thick or hard to blend out because they dry to quickly. The Tarte Shape Tape just really works perfectly for me
Ofra Cosmetics – Rodeo Drive Highlighter
Just like how I keep going back to the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, of the countless highlighters I’ve tried, I still find myself constantly going back to the Ofra Rodeo Drive Highlighter.
(My go-to everyday highlight is Rodeo Drive with the Fenty highlighter I mentioned above layered on top.)
All of Ofra highlighters are amazing – they have one of the best highlighter formulas out there.
But, RODEO DRIVE OMG. I just die over this shade. It’s so beautiful that I lust over it every time I use it.
It’s the most gorgeous champagne gold shade that gives you a wet-looking sheen. The powder is SUPER FINE so it goes on super smoothly without any patchiness or emphasizing texture. Also, no chunky glitter in it!
I can see Rodeo Drive working on most skin tones, as it’s a pretty universal shade unless you’re at the extreme end of either side of the skin tone spectrum.
Kevyn Aucoin – The Sculpting Powder
As someone with light skin, I struggled for a long time with finding the right contour shade that wouldn’t look too warm or too muddy on me.
No one likes an orange or brown unnatural streak across their cheek!
If you also struggle with this problem, the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder is for you! Kevyn Aucoin is one of the makeup legends and it shows in his products.
The Sculpting Powder (in Light) is very much a cool-toned shade, which makes your contour look very natural and how a shadow would actually look.
I usually only use the shade Light for both my cheek and nose contour, but I also have The Contour Book Volume 3, which includes all of the contour shades – Light, Medium, and Dark.
So, when I really want to carve out my cheeks, I’ll use the shade Medium there and the shade Light on my nose.
Hourglass – Ambient Lighting Powders
When I first saw Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, I thought they were outrageously overpriced! Like, $48 for a single powder?! Isn’t that crazy?
But now, my mind has been changed. They are truly amazing and I haven’t really seen any other brands replicating them.
There are blushes, bronzers, and finishing powders that are Ambient Lighting powders and every one is amazing.
I’m a huge fan of the “lit from within” look and these powders do that perfectly. You get an all over glow and it’s a really subtle change to your makeup overall, but it just makes everything better.
It adds a soft focus and luminescence to the face that is especially great when you’ve used a matte foundation and/or a lot of setting powder to bring back some life into the skin.
I have the Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 4, which was unfortunately a limited edition holiday palette. :(
Marc Jacobs – Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner
SO many people rave about this eyeliner pencil and for very good reason!
The pencil is soft enough to create a super smooth line without pulling on your skin or applying unevenly, but it isn’t so soft that it breaks easily. Basically, the perfect texture for an eye pencil.
And the pigmentation! Girl, it’s pigmented. I only have two shades, but they are opaque!
I use this pencil on my waterline almost every single day and it stays put! I never experience smearing or smudging in the corner of my eyes and at the end of the day, it looks just like it did when I initially put it on.
I have the shades (Earth)quake 41, which is a matte dark brown, and Brown(Out) 54, which is a bronze with shimmer.
Yes, those really are the shade names – no idea why they’ve implemented the use of parentheses in most of the shade names.
I highly recommend both of those shades, but I am definitely going to buy more! I’m not going to lie – I kind of want all the shades.
There are four finishes available – Shimmer, Matte, Satin, and Glitter.
Givenchy – Le Rouge Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm
You probably think I’m crazy for including a lip balm on this list. But, the Givenchy Le Rouge Lip Balm is life changing!
It’s a three-in-one balm the plumps, moisturizes, and boosts the color of your lips. For someone like me, that isn’t really a lipstick wearer, this kind of product is perfect for everyday wear.
This lip balm applies so smoothly (if you’re thinking of chapstick when I say “lip balm,” it’s totally not like that LOL) and it lasts a really long time on the lips.
It’s beautiful for those that are looking to just enhance their natural lip color while wearing something that’s comfortable and nourishing for the lips.
Bonus points for the super cute packaging – yes, that’s pink leather.
I have the shade Perfect Pink and it's the perfect natural shade for me!
NARS – Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation
Last, but definitely not least on this list, is foundation.
Even though I have found many drugstore foundations that I really like and use, foundation is one of those items that I think you should definitely splurge on if you have the means.
The biggest reason I think that is the ingredients foundation. Generally speaking, drugstore foundations tend to have more “questionable” ingredients in them.
I have really sensitive skin and have had many foundations that gave me adverse reactions, even if they performed beautifully while I was wearing it.
Foundation is a very personal thing and what works for me might not work for you, so even though I listed the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in this list, that doesn’t mean that it’ll definitely work for you.
It’s just my absolute favorite foundation to use right now and I’m currently on my third bottle! I don’t go through an entire product of any type of makeup very often, so that is saying a lot!
The NARS Natural Radiant Foundation provides full coverage and has the most beautiful natural finish. Not dewy, not matte, but right in the middle.
If that sounds like the type of foundation that you would like, I highly recommend this one!

And if this foundation doesn't seem like one you'd like, I'd still recommend finding a foundation that really works well for you. Even if it costs more than drugstore foundations, I think it's well worth it.
And that’s it for this list of makeup products that are worth the splurge! What did you think of my choices?
