Hi, friends! It’s the end of September and although I normally publish my Monthly Favorites post at the beginning of the following month, I’m on top of my shit this month so it’s coming to you early LOL. Actually, I’m leaving for Japan in a few days and I won’t be back for almost two weeks, so I wanted to get this out to you before then!
September was a really good month for makeup as I found some amazing products – both drugstore and luxury. It also seemed like I tried out an unusually high number of new products this month with the Sephora VIB Sale and I’ve just been buying a ridiculous amount of makeup recently. Someone please take away my credit card.
So, without further ado, let’s get started!

Marc Jacobs – Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter | $44
I’ve been absolutely loving this highlighter as a mixer for foundation. I’m all about having an all-over glow recently, and mixing the Dew Drops into foundation creates a really beautiful, yet subtle, all-over golden sheen.
This is a perfect way to make any foundation have a radiant finish – even full-coverage matte foundations. It’s great because it doesn’t make your skin look dewy/oily, it just makes you look like a glowing goddess!

Dior – Backstage Face & Body Foundation | $40
After hearing such great reviews about this foundation after it was released, I just HAD to try it out. I’ve heard claims that it’s super long-wearing, lightweight, and sweat-proof! Well, I was definitely not disappointed after trying it out for myself.
It’s one of two foundations in my current daily rotation (the other one being the NARS Natural Radiant Foundation). I love the natural matte finish it has and it really smooths out the skin! I was actually shocked at how good my skin looked on the first day I wore it – and it looked amazing all day.
It’s definitely a medium-coverage foundation, which means I have to build up the coverage quite a bit because I’m a full-coverage girl. But, it builds up beautifully – absolutely no cakey-ness, bunching, or lifting happens to the foundation. It’s a total win.

Laura Mercier – Translucent Loose Setting Powder Glow | $38
I’m probably most excited about this product out of all the products on my list. I just get SO excited about great setting powders because it’s so important to the overall look of your makeup!
I’m a long-time lover of the original Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder (in fact, it’s even part of my Holy Grails) and as I mentioned earlier, I’ve been all about having an all-over glow recently. SO, when Laura Mercier released this Glow version of their translucent powder, ya girl was ecstatic.
Setting powder always seems to take away some of the radiance in any foundation I use (even when I mix in liquid highlighter), so having a setting powder that will actually add glow instead of taking it away is a dream come true!
And yes, it’s everything. It’s the best illuminating/radiant setting powder I’ve tried. If you want that healthy glow, this is for you.

ColourPop – Jelly Much Shadows in Origami, We Jammin’, & Foxes | $8 each
Have you heard about this new shadow formula from ColourPop? If not, you are missing out! The formula is so innovative and it’s crazy how much pigmentation you get with barely any effort at all – literally one swipe. My favorite shades from the collection of 8 different shades definitely are Origami, We Jammin’, and Foxes (pictured, L-R).
I did a full in-depth review of the Jelly Much shadows, which includes swatches of each one! Read my review here: ColourPop Jelly Much Shadows Review.
Makeup Revolution – SophX Highlighting Palette | $12
I’m so late to the party on this palette and I wish I had tried it sooner! I love that it features both baked and pressed powders because the two formulas do lay differently on the skin so it’s nice to have the option between the two.
I personally like to apply a pressed powder highlight as the base highlight in all areas I want to highlight and top it with a baked highlighted in the areas that I really want to pop. And this palette is perfect for that! I use the top right shade as my base highlight and top it with the golden baked shade right next to it. GORGEOUS.
The versatility of this palette is amazing – you have so many different shades to choose from, but they all go so well together. I love mixing and matching shades in this palette for a different look all the time! I also really like that this palette is not ALL crazy colors or ALL natural colors – it’s a very well-rounded palette. BONUS – It’s cheap AF.
Essence – Brighten Up! Banana Powder | $4.99
I know that in an earlier post on my blog, I said that I didn’t like banana powders. (I can’t remember which one… Was it my Ulta Haul?) BUT, that was before I tried this powder. I LOVE this pressed banana powder.
I still don’t use banana powder to bake or even to just set my under-eye area. So, I bet you’re thinking, “then what in the world do you use banana powder for?” Girl, to snatch my nose contour!!
With my makeup sponge (I use the Real Techniques sponge), I press this powder onto the sides of my nose and onto the very inner part of my under-eye area (in the areas that you would normally bake your nose contour), then immediately brush off the excess powder. This seriously makes such a huge difference in the way my nose contour looks. It really tightens things up!
Also, any time you are planning on making an online purchase, don’t forget to use Ebates! Sephora, Ulta, and many other makeup brands are participating stores. Use Ebates every time you order something online so you can get a bit of your money back! (Some stores even offer in-store cash back) I’ve made over $500 in cash back from Ebates since I started under 2 years ago and I literally only buy makeup LOL so if you’re not using it, you’re totally missing out! I wrote a review on Ebates when I first started using it here.
