May Favorites

Hi, friends! June has just begun, so it’s time for another Monthly Favorites post! My May Favorites post is a little early this month because I’m leaving for Australia tomorrow! I’ll be visiting Justin for 2 weeks and I anticipate not posting any blogs while I’m there, so I wanted to get this post out before it’s too late. I’m so excited! I can’t believe this will be my first time to Australia – over the course of our entire relationship, Justin has always been the one to visit me. He came to Japan once and to Hawaii twice, but I haven’t even visited him once! :(  Such a good boyfriend!

As I was gathering this post’s products to take photos of them, I realized that almost all of them were luxury products. Sometimes I get into a really boujee mood and l just want to use luxury products all the time and sometimes broke-girl Liana comes out and I’m all about the drugstore products. Recently, I’ve been in the boujee mood LOL.

Without further ado, let’s jump right into the products.

Drunk Elephant – C-Firma Day Serum & T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

C-Firma: $80

Shop Now: Sephora | Drunk Elephant | Amazon

T.L.C. Framboos: $90

Shop Now: Sephora | Drunk Elephant | Amazon

I LOVE LOVE LOVEEE these two products! I’ve been thinking about getting these for a while now, especially because Casey Holmes raves about them on her channel, BUT they are so expensive! So when I saw the Acid Trip Kit on Sephora, which included these two products, plus the T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial and the Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, all at half-size, I HAD to get it. And Sephora had their VIB sale going on at the time, so it was a no-brainer.

These two products have seriously been a game-changer in my skincare routine. They have made my skin’s rough texture practically disappear. I had a lot of really tiny white bumps on my face – I suspect they may have been milia, but I’m not entirely sure. I don’t really think they were, because in the research I’ve done (a few Google searches), milia seems to be bigger and harder than what I had. I feel like mine were really tiny white heads – not exactly pimples because they would never get red and inflamed.

Anywaysss, regardless of what they were, they have pretty much disappeared! I’ve been told by dermatologists that my pores are actually really small, but that makes it easy for debris to get trapped in them. So pretty much I’m supposed to exfoliate often but I don’t because I’m lazyyyy. Both of these products are kind of like leave-on exfoliators because they dissolve dead skin cells without having to wash it off. Perfect for me!

However, I would like to note that this didn’t really help my acne much – you know like the actual big pimples. I’d assume you still have to go through the whole process of cleansing, toning, serum (like these two products), and moisturizing to reap the full benefits, but I lazy.

I pretty much just slap the night serum on a bare face, let it dry, and go to sleep. By that time, it’s been hours since I last cleansed my face (when I showered), but it’s still clean, yeah?! Sometimes I use toner before the serum if I feel my skin needs it.

In the morning, I put the day serum on a bare face, then moisturizer and primer, then makeup. I probably should do a gentle cleanse in the morning, but that’s another 5 minutes added on to my morning routine that’s already over an hour long and I don’t have time for that LOL.

Marc Jacobs Beauty – O!Mega Bronzer Coconut Perfect Tan (Coconut Fantasy Collection) in Tan-Tastic

$49

Tan-Tastic is sold out everywhere because it's limited edition, but I've linked Tantric

Shop Now: Sephora | Neiman Marcus | Marc Jacobs | Amazon

This was another splurge from the Sephora VIB sale. At the time that I bought it, I didn’t even know it was the limited edition version, so SCORE! I’ve also had my eye on this bronzer for a long time, but $49 for a bronzer seems crazy to me. However, you get 0.8 ounces (25 g) in it so it’ll last you basically forever.

This shade is absolutely perfect for me – it has a little warmth to definitely give me a bronzy glow, but it’s not too warm for a pale girl like me. And the formula is sooo good – it blends out effortlessly and I never have to worry about weird patches or streaks. Bonus: It smells AMAZING (like coconut) and the component it comes in is pretty much as luxe and you can get. It’s heavy. You can take a bitch out with that thing.

Not sure how true the claim about it being a universal bronzer is. I’m pretty light and it’s like perfect on me, so I’m not sure how it would work on deeper skin tones.

Kevyn Aucoin – The Sculpting Contour Powder in Light

c/o Kevyn Aucoin via Octoly

$44

Shop Now: Sephora | Kevyn Aucoin | Nordstrom | BeautyLish | Amazon (cheaper on Amazon)

This is another product that’s perfect for light skin tones. I’ve always struggled with contour products looking either too orange or too muddy (too deep of a tone) on my skin, but this one seems to be the perfect shade for me. It’s really light and cool-toned, which is perfect for creating a natural-looking contour – it looks like how a shadow actually would look on your face.

It’s really tiny for the price, though. 0.14 ounces (4 g) is definitely not a lot of product for $44. But, until I find something even close to as good as this, I’ll keep using it!

Givenchy – Prisme Libre Loose Powder in Mousseline Pastel

c/o Givenchy via Octoly

$56

Shop Now: Sephora | Amazon

I will admit that when I first tried this powder, I hated it. I used it to set my entire face and I looked like a ghost. It leaves a crazy white cast. The concept of the powder is that it’s color-correcting, but by the time I’m using a loose powder, which would be after foundation and concealer, my face is already pretty color-corrected…???

Also, the powder is stored in 4 different compartments in the container, so it’s hard to get the exact amount of each color in any given area you put it on. I think the entire concept is pretty strange, especially if I already have full-coverage foundation and concealer on (which is always). Like what will the color-correcting component of the powder correct? My theory is that it tried to color-correct my entire face, which is why I ended up so white.

HOWEVER, after wearing the powder for the entire day (yeah, I did go to work looking like a ghost – I didn’t have time to fix it! Just tried to use a lot of bronzer LOL), I ended up loving the way it made the texture of my skin look. The powder is extremely finely milled, so it seriously smoothed out my skin like no powder has done before. It basically put a filter on my skin.

Being that it is so brightening, I now use it just to set my under eye area and anywhere else I have highlighted with concealer (pretty much the center of my face), while I use a translucent setting powder on the rest of my face. And I love using that combination. I haven’t done the flash back test while wearing this powder, but I think it’ll probably create some major flash back.

I wouldn’t mind trying out some of the other shades (there are 5 different shades) because I do really like the formula and since I got the lightest shade, I’m thinking maybe one of the others would be okay for me to use on my entire face.

ColourPop Cosmetics – Super Shock Shadows in Polly, Fringe, & Amaze

If you’ve been keeping up with my Monthly Favorites for a while now, you’ll know how much I love ColourPop’s Super Shock Shadows for lid shades. And these are no different! I just love how you get so much pigment from them and how it lasts all day without creasing.

L-R: Polly, Fringe, Amaze

I’m a huge fan on putting glitter/shimmer shades on my lid and these three have been my favorite recently for their subtlety (I mean, as subtle as shimmer can get). All of these shades are mostly shimmer so it’s not like ‘woah in your face’ type of glitter (which may not be wearable on a daily basis) – although I definitely do not shy away from the glitter while at work LOL.

I’m thinking of putting together a list of my favorite ColourPop Super Shock Shadows, so keep an eye out for that!

Junoflo – Grapevine ft. Jay Park

Back with the Korean music this month! But, this time it’s not K-Pop. I’ve been really into this artist lately after seeing him on the last two seasons of Show Me the Money (Korean Rap Competition Show). So when he came out with a song featuring my baby Jay Park, I knew this was going to be my jam. Doesn’t hurt that he’s easy on the eyes teehee. Both of them are.

And that’s it for my May Favorites, guys! Let me know down in the comments what you think about any of these products, I’d love to know!

Thanks for reading and until next time. <3
