Oahu Food Guide: Day 5

Hi, friends! Welcome to the 5th and final installment of my Oahu Food Guide! I hope you all enjoyed our food journey so far. (Be sure to check out the previous days: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4) We took it really easy on our last day. To be honest, I think we were pretty tired from all of the eating! We had a super late breakfast, which was actually more like lunch, and had a pretty simple dinner.

Without further ado, let's get into the foooood.

Cinnamon’s at the Ilikai

This was my first time eating here and I cannot believe I had not visited sooner, in all of the years I lived on Oahu. I sure was missing out! The restaurant is conveniently located inside the Ilikai Hotel, which makes it super accessible if you’re staying in Waikiki. There are also no obstructions between the restaurant and the beach (more like a harbor though), which allows for a great view during your meal.

I think it’s safe to say Cinnamon’s is known for their pancakes (especially the guava pancakes) and for their eggs benedict. I ordered the crab cake eggs benedict, Justin ordered the kalua pig eggs benedict, and we shared a short stack of guava pancakes (2 pancakes). I’ll tell you right now – this was WAY too much food for us!

With each order of eggs benedict, you get two huge pieces and about half a plate worth of tater tots. You can choose to get two different types or you can get only one benedict – I think I’ll definitely get just one next time! Especially because the guava pancakes are a MUST. The pancakes were so fluffy and the guava sauce/icing had the perfect taste. It wasn’t too sweet or too tart. It was amazing. Both Justin and I enjoyed our benedicts, but we agreed that one was enough. We were both satisfied after eating just one and felt like we forced ourselves to finish the second one. (And I think we both have pretty big appetites!) It was definitely yummy, though. I like to think of myself as kind of a crab cake connoisseur (LOL), and this one absolutely didn’t disappoint.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention that they have mimosas! AND they have all different types of mimosas. We both had a lilikoi (passion fruit) mimosa and it was deliciousss. Definitely recommend.

Pro Tips:

Utilize the valet parking at the Ilikai Hotel. Even if you aren’t hotel guests, just tell the valet worker that you’re going to Cinnamon’s and they’ll give you a ticket that you must get validated at the restaurant. It only costs a few bucks, which is definitely better than searching for parking in Waikiki, especially since the Ilikai Hotel is near the end (or start..?) of Waikiki.
Beware of the birds! The restaurant is open-air, so seeing birds try to steal food is not uncommon.
It can get super busy, especially on weekends, so be prepared to wait.

California Pizza Kitchen

In all of my years living in Oahu, I don’t think there’s a restaurant that I’ve frequented more than CPK. It’s just so consistent. The salads are good, the appetizers are good, the pizzas are good, the pastas are good, and the desserts are good. And they ALWAYS are, regardless of which location you eat at. It may not be authentic Italian food, or anything ground-breaking, but it’s GOOD.

We decided to eat at the Ala Moana location on our last night on Oahu with my Aunty and Uncle. The location was so convenient since we were staying at the Ala Moana Hotel and could just walk there and walk back. I ate the garlic chicken pizza and Justin ate the BBQ chicken pizza (I’m pretty sure this is their most popular pizza). Both were so good, as expected. I really like that the pizzas are thin-crust pizzas, so you’re not just filling up on bread. The pizzas aren’t huge, so one person could be able to finish the entire thing it they have a big appetite. I thought Justin may have been able to finish it all, but we both ended up taking a few pieces back to our hotel (breakfast for the next day!).

Oh and the spinach dip on the appetizer menu is amazing. Get it. Always. Trust me.  Also, the butter cake is a must for dessert. They warm it up and serve it with vanilla ice cream. It is diviiiine. Even with how good the pizza was, I spent the whole meal looking forward to dessert.

There are a few locations across the island, but these three are the locations I am most familiar with.
