Hi, friends! Another month has gone by, which means another Favorites post! (Be sure to check out my October Favorites post if you haven't already because I am still loving all of those products!) I'm actually early this month! I'm been doing my Favorites post so late for the last couple of months, that I'm seriously so proud of myself for having my shit together this month.
Are you all ready for Christmas?! This is honestly one of my favorite times of the year because there is just so much love and happiness in the air everywhere you go! I'm really looking forward to being able to spend time with my family this year since I was in Japan last Christmas, and if you saw my November Instagram Snaps, you know that I am SO EXCITED that Justin will be visiting from Australia to join my family for the holidays! YAY!
Without further ado, let's get started with my favorites of November!
I admit I am a little late to the party on this one... I'm not really one to buy a new foundation just because it's newly released. I am guilty of doing this with eyeshadow palettes and highlighters, though... But, that's beside the point! Anyway, I was lucky enough to receive a decent size sample of this foundation from Sephora, which allowed me to try it out for almost two weeks before deciding to purchase the full size or not. Obviously, I bought it. And I love it. I won't go into full details about the foundation, but the main reason why I love it is because it is so damn long wearing!
When I first tried it, I thought it was a bit drying because I have fairly dry skin. But, with the right moisturizing primer (I use the Vitamin Enriched Face Base by Bobbi Brown), it looks and feels amazing on the skin. This is my go-to foundation to wear to work because I need something that will look good all day! The selling point for me is that it looks almost as good at 4 pm compared to when I first put it on at 6 am. We're not creating miracles here, so of course there are a few touch-ups throughout the course of a 10-hour day, but it's not much! And it's not even really a touch-up, I basically just have to blot my nose, which is the only place that will get a little oily. Other than that, judging by how my foundation looks at 4 pm, you would never expect I put it on at 6 am!
And the price! You get 1.08 oz (32 mL) for $34! That is an amazing price for that amount of product. I love it. Definitely recommend.
It seems like my next obsession after eyeshadow palettes and highlighters, is loose setting powder. Even though I just had a setting powder in my October Favorites, here we are with another setting powder this month! This powder is so great - it is totally a dupe for the Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Setting Powder. It looks like it, it feels like it, it works like it, it just doesn't smell like it LOL. It has such an odd scent that comes off really strong when you first start using it. On the first day I tried it, I swear I could smell it on my face the entire day. But, once you get used to the scent (and the scent does fade after first opening it), everything else about the powder is amazing. It's so finely-milled, light, fluffy, and it makes your skin have a really soft velvety finish.
And look at the size of it! For only $7-$8, you get 2.3 oz (65g) of product! Absolutely crazy. If you're looking for a good and inexpensive loose setting powder, this is definitely a great option.
MAC - Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Soft Ochre | $22 | MAC
This is something that I used to use when I first started wearing makeup – about 10 years ago. When I first started wearing makeup, I used to wear exclusively MAC products. I feel like that’s a trend? No? Only me? Well, this product was recommended to use as an eyeshadow base/primer and is actually a ride or die product for many people, including my mom! I used to use it when I was in high school and I have no idea why I stopped!
I found a really old gift card for MAC in an old wallet of mine (SCORE!), so I decided to give this another shot. And it is a ride or die for so many people for good reason! It’s one of the best eyeshadow primers I’ve ever used – it really does keep the shadow from creasing on your lid and it makes the colors appear more vibrant.
In addition to using it on my lids, I’ve also been using it as a pre-foundation concealer, similar to how people use color correctors. I put some on old scars, any blemishes I have, or any redness I have and it just makes it easier for the foundation to cover it up. Also, do any of you have the problem of foundation slipping off of your nose? There’s an old trick to apply concealer to your nose first to help the foundation adhere to your skin and I’ve been using this paint pot for that. It’s a thicker consistency than any of my concealers, so it works amazingly for this purpose.
I FINALLY TRIED THE TARTE SHAPE TAPE CONCEALER. And is it as good as it’s hyped up to be?? YES. IT IS. The consistency is really thick and it’s super full-coverage - it’s definitely the thickest and most full-coverage concealer I own. And I love that because ya girl has some serious dark circles under her eyes. And even with it being so thick, it blends out like a dream. A little definitely goes a long way with this concealer, which I also love because I normally go through concealers so quickly. The finish is beautiful and so long-wearing. I have no problems with creasing under my eyes when using this product.
I don’t really know how I feel about the applicator, though. It’s a normal doe-foot shape, but it is massive! Takes some getting used to, I guess. I don’t hate it. It gets the job done.
Ardency Inn - Modster Smooth Ride Supercharged Eyeliner in Black | $20 | Ardency Inn
I've had this in my drawer for a while now, but I just never got around to trying it out. And I am kicking myself for it! Honestly, this is probably the best pencil for the waterline I've ever tried. It goes on so smoothly, with no chunkiness at all, and it is so black! THE PIGMENT. It's truly amazing how black this pencil applies, especially in the waterline. And the best part is that it stays like that for the entire day! Not once have I experienced any smearing or transferring to my under-eye area while using this pencil. It's seriously divine. It's just the absolute best.
And that's it for my list of favorites! I hope you all enjoy these and can use them for tips on what products to buy. I love reading other blogger's favorites posts and I always find new things I want to try from them. I would love to hear your experiences with any of these products!
Happy holidays to all of you and thanks for reading! Until next time. <3
