Kylie Cosmetics Vacation Edition: The Wet Set First Impressions Review (and more!)

Hi, friends! I hope you all had a great 4th of July (for my American friends) and are having a wonderful start to your second half of the year! I am so excited because my boyfriend is coming to visit me next week! We haven't seen each other since the end of January, when I was still living in Japan! I know, crazy, right! After we spend some time soaking up the sun in Hawaii, we'll go to Malaysia and Australia (his home)! I'm so excited! Just wanted to give you all some life updates. :)

As you can see from the title of this post, I managed to get my hands on the super hyped and highly sought after Wet Set from Kylie Cosmetics. The Wet Set is from her Vacation Edition collection and is all the rage according to pretty much everyone on social media (that managed to get one).

This is my first purchase from Kylie Cosmetics because honestly, a part of me didn't want to give into the hype of her products and I heard mixed reviews on the quality. Also, when she first launched her company, I knew there would be a lot of things that needed to be worked on (like all companies) and I was never a lipstick girl, so the lip kits didn't appeal to me.

Now that I've heard there has been a substantial increase in the quality of her products and that she's added a bunch of other products other than lip kits, I thought it was time to give it a try.

I know in the past, people have experienced very poor customer service from Kylie Cosmetics or have received faulty/broken products. I would just like to note that I received my order only 4 days after placing it and I live in Hawaii!

It arrived 2 days earlier than the expected delivery day. Also, it was a GIANT box for only 3 products because it was packaged so carefully and well-protected. All of the products were in perfect condition when I opened it. Two thumbs up for packaging and shipping!

The Vacation Edition was released as Kylie Cosmetic's summer collection on June 15th, which included:

Within 24 hours of the release, over half of the products sold out, which is actually pretty surprising considering her releases almost always sell out as soon as it hits the website.

However, the Take Me On Vacation palette, the Wet Set, all of the Ultra Glows, and the Bundle did sell out almost instantly.

With all the requests for a restock of those products, Kylie Cosmetics restocked all of the products on June 29th at 3 pm PST, which is 12 pm for me. And thank god I happened to be scrolling through instagram that morning and saw that announcement!

I set up my account and saved all of my info so I wouldn't waste any time when the restock was released. I was sitting in front of my laptop with the restock page open, refreshing the page constantly from about 5 minutes before the release.

As soon as the page was up and running, I quickly added The Wet Set and the Glitz Glitter Gloss to my cart and headed to check out! I already had the Candy K Lip Kit in my cart from a prior perusal of the site...and with no time to waste, I was forced to continue checking out with the lip kit still in my cart. AND IT WAS A SUCCESS.

I still can't believe I got it so easily! Especially The Wet Set! I've read so many comments on her instagram from people who made it all the way to confirming their order and then were told it was already sold out. Apparently, it sold out in a matter of minutes. It was like 12:03 pm when I finished checking out, so I got really lucky!

Okay, I know you're all probably thinking, "Enough talking Liana, let's see the products!" So, without further ado, here are the products!

Candy K Lip Kit

My first Lip Kit! I chose this shade because I saw a friend wearing just the liner all over her lips and loved the way it looked on her! We ate an entire meal and her lips looked just as good after the meal as it did before, which was enough to convince me to buy it.

I am already so pleased with this purchase! Even before I bought it, I loved the idea that it came as a kit - with both a lip liner and a lipstick. It makes the $29 price a lot better, and both the liner and lipstick are a good size, so I don't really have a problem with the price at all.

I really like the color, I think it suits my skin tone perfectly, and I'm actually kind of hitting myself for taking so long to buy it. Better late than never, though!

I've heard the formula of these lipsticks are pretty drying and I do already agree with that, even though I've only worn it a few times. I haven't worn it for a long enough period of time, yet, so I don't know exactly how drying it is.

I absolutely love the high opacity of the formula and it applies super smoothly, evenly, and without any streakiness at all. I also like how the doe-foot applicator is small and not really fluffy - it makes it easy to apply the lipstick precisely. And guys, it smells heavenly.

Glitz - Super Glitter Gloss | sold out

Okay, I don't know how I feel about this glitter gloss yet. It's so glittery! I actually laughed at how ridiculous I looked when I first put it on.

For a girl that has just begun wearing lipstick, maybe trying a super glitter gloss was a lot to ask. It looked really good when Laura Lee put it on in her video, though! I did try it when I didn't have any other makeup on, so that may have something to do with why it looked so crazy.

I did try it as a topper on top of Candy K and I actually liked how that looked a lot. I'll probably end up using this gloss as a topper more often than by itself.

As for the formula, I love that it isn't a super sticky type of gloss. It feels really good on the lips and applies really evenly. The glitter is really really fine and there's a lot of it in the gloss, so you don't get some areas of your lips with more glitter than other areas. Just massive amounts of glitter EVERYWHERE.

I really like the brush applicator - it's short and pretty stiff. It may just be stiff because it's new, but I hope it stays stiff because it made applying the gloss precisely on the edges really easy.

THE WET SET!! | sold out

And this, my friends, is what we've all been waiting for! Look at it! Isn't it beautiful?! I'm in love. I could stare at it all day.

And I'm liiiiving for the gold packaging. It's a really sturdy cardboard box with a magnetic closure. I love how there's a really big mirror inside, too.

I don't have any of her other eye or face products from previous releases, but I'm pretty sure most (if not all) of them didn't have a mirror included. Okay I just checked and the more recent ones have a mirror, just her early releases didn't have one.

As for the product itself, it's definitely worth all the hype. They are all so pigmented and BLINDING. People will see you coming from a mile away with this highlight on!

The shades are absolutely GORGEOUS. Get-A-Way is probably too dark for my skin tone as a highlight, but I can see myself using it as a shadow. I'm so in love with Do Not Disturb - it has such a pretty pink undertone, which is my preferred type of highlight shade.

The formula, guys. THE FORMULA. It wasn't named The Wet Set for no reason! It really is wet! Or, it really feels like it. That's how soft, creamy, and buttery it feels.

It's described by Kylie Cosmetics as a pressed powder palette, but it is not powdery at all. It's kind of strange - it's like in the middle of a powder and a cream. I've heard it's similar to the Stila Heaven's Hue highlighter, which is described as a putty-like texture. I've never tried the Stila highlighter, but I guess I'd say that the Wet Set does have kind of a putty-like texture.

Because it's wet, there is absolutely no fall out and it really stays in place! I've never experienced a product like this before. It's so interesting! It also almost has a cooling feel against the skin and blends out effortlessly without losing its pigmentation. Lovess itttt. I may even like it better than the Anastasia Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit. *GASP!* It doesn't really need much more explanation, I mean, just look at those swatches! LOVE. <3

And that's all for today's post! I hope you all enjoyed it and could find it helpful in some way. Thank you so much for reading and as always, let me know what you think in the comments! Until next time. <3
